ôîòî: Douglas C-47A-80DL Skytrain ‘315073 / 9X-D’ “The S.N.A.F.U. Special”

Îïèñàíèå: c/n 19539 Built in 1944 for the US military with the serial 43-15073 Arrived in UK during March 1944 and joined the Ninth Air Force. Allocated to the 95th Troop Carrier Sqn and coded ‘9X-D’. Took part in D-Day and then operations Neptune, Dragon, Market Garden, Repulse and Varsity. Sold off in 1946 and joined Czechoslovak State Airlines (CSA) as OK-XDM. Became ‘15073’ with the French Air Force in 1960 and given the radio callsign F-TEBE. This was later changed to F-RAUK when she was recoded 340-UK. Taken out of service in 1971, she was then registered as F-BTDF before joining the Yugoslav Air Force as 71248 in 1972. She eventually became a gate guard at Rajlovac, Sarajevo. During the Yugoslav wars she was used as a bar by UN peace-keeping troops and known as ‘The Dakota Club’. Donated to the Association Merville-Dakota in 2007, she was moved to the Merville Battery and went on display in June 2008, following a cosmetic restoration.
