Îïèñàíèå: German WW2 era Heavy Tank Official designation: - Panzerkampfwagen Tiger Ausf.B (Sd.Kfz.182) Informally known as the ‘K"onigstiger’ (King Tiger), the Tiger II was the successor to the Tiger I and combined the original Tiger’s thick armour with the sloping sided hull design of the Panther. 492 were built between mid-1944 and the end of the war, Of the seven complete examples known to still exist, this is the only one in running condition. It is quoted as chassis No.280112 and is believed to be a combination of the chassis from Tiger II ‘123’ with the turret of Tiger II ‘300’. ‘123’ was part of the 1st Company of the 101st SS Heavy Panzer Battalion until it was abandoned due to engine problems on 23rd August 1944. Salvaged by the French Army the following month, it was eventually stored at the AMX factory in Satory where the turret was changed with that from ‘300’, a Tiger II which had served with the 503rd Heavy Panzer Battalion.
