ôîòî: Reid & Sigrist R.S.4 Bobsleigh ‘VZ728’ (G-AGOS)

Îïèñàíèå: c/n 03 Built in 1945 as the prototype R.S.3 Desford, a three-seat advanced trainer. No further examples were built and in 1951 it was rebuilt as the R.S.4 Bobsleigh, an experimental prone pilot research aircraft. The R.S.4 was used for low-speed research, complementing a converted Meteor F8 (WK935) used for high-speed research. When the trials ended in 1956, the R.S.4 returned to its original civil registration of G-AGOS and was used for aerial surveying until retired in 1973. In 1974 she became part of the Strathallan Aircraft Collection at Auchterarder in Scotland, but was sold off at auction during 1981, after which she flew very little, if at all. Loaned to the Leicestershire Museums Service by National Museums Scotland in 1991, she was stored dismantled at Snibston and was officially transferred to Leicestershire County Council in 2005. In 2014 Windmill Aviation at Spanhoe were entrusted to restore the aeroplane to airworthy condition and she flew again in April 2018. Despite good intentions, she made no airshow appearances and in 2022 the Council took the decision to place the aeroplane in the care of the Newark Air Museum, where she could at least be on display to the public, albeit not in the air. She flew to her new home on 19th August and is seen three days later, on display in Hangar 2. Newark Air Museum Winthorpe, Nottinghamshire, UK 22nd August 2022
