This is the parade on Moscow's Red Square devoted to the 68th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution, 7 November 1985. This year would see the ascension of Mikhail Gorbachev as General Secretary of the CPSU, making him leader of the USSR. His first year saw increasing Cold War tensions continue (they would not begin to calm down until 1987). Taking the salute is Minister of Defense of the USSR, Marshal of the Soviet Union Sergei Sokolov.
