The blades of grass are as tall as people, their roots are deep and spreading, like a green wall separating the street from the once clean and beautiful sidewalk. When we first started cleaning, a 60-year-old man nearby confronted us because he suspected we were doing bad things in front of their sugar cane garden, but after he learned that we were the cleaners, free sidewalks, he was very happy. Not only that, he also went inside and cut 2 sugarcanes for me as a thank you gift. When we started cleaning up, my teammates and I had to use knives, specialized lawn scissors, and hoes to pull out the roots. After many hours of diligent cleaning, the sidewalk gradually appeared. Under the thick layer of grass, the brick floor has faded because it was covered by time and nature. Although we were tired, we all felt happy to return a clean, airy sidewalk to the neighborhood. It was a memorable experience, helping me better understand the value of protecting living space and preserving the common landscape.
