Îïèñàíèå: The Kieffer Monument is in tribute to the commandos who landed at Sword beach on June 6th 1944 and was opened on 6th June 1984 by President Francois Mitterrand of France and Andre Ledtan, the Mayor of Ouistreham. The central memorial "La Flamme" is large metal flame housed on top of a German bunker. The pathway leading to the memorial is lined with stones with the names of the French Commandos who were killed on June 6th, 1944. To the sides of ‘La Flamme’ are statues of Capitaine de fr'egate Philippe Kieffer and Brigadier Lord Lovat, who both led Commando units onto Sword Beach Ouistreham, Normandy, France. 8th July 2022
