Îïèñàíèå: This Yak 3, c/n 2530, was taken from another Soviet unit for the ‘Normandie-Niemen’ squadron’s return to France. Coded ‘18’ and piloted by Albert Lebras, it was one of 39 Yaks which landed at Le Bourget on the 20th June 1945. Its last flight was to Toussus le Noble on 1st April 1946 and by September that year it was on display at the City Hall in Puteaux. Saved from scrapping by ex-Normandie-Niemen pilot Constantin Feldzer, it was donated to the National Collection and went on display at Chalais-Meudon as ‘18’. It was there from 1950 to 1960 and was then stored, although it was photographed on the ramp at Orange Airbase in October 1964. It was repainted before going on display at Le Bourget in May 1975 and still coded ‘18’, but was repainted again in 1977 and took on the identity of Robert Marchi’s aircraft, coded ‘4’. It has remained in this scheme ever since, but the starboard side has recently been stripped back to reveal original markings, including the codes ‘18’, ‘25’ and ‘21’. It is on display in the Normandie-Niemen Hall (Hall 12) at the Mus'ee de l'air et de l'espace. Le Bourget Airport, Paris, France. 12th July 2022
