Îïèñàíèå: c/n 6477 Built in 1967 as the prototype Nimrod, then known only as the HS.801 and was actually converted from an unfinished Comet 4 airframe. It flew as a test and trials aircraft, initially with Hawker Siddeley but later with the Aeroplane & Armament Experimental Establishment (A&AEE) at Boscombe Down, the Radar Research Establishment at Pershore and finally with the A&AEE at Bedford. Retired to Woodford in April 1982, the airframe was dismantled and used for fatigue testing before being broken up during 1999. The nose was saved and is now privately owned. It arrived at Newquay during March 2021 and is on display at the Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre. Newquay Airport, Cornwall, UK. 27th July 2022 Note: - Sadly the museum was forced to close in October 2022 and the collection dispersed. The nose of XV148 moved to the Boscombe Down Aviation Museum at Old Sarum during April 2023.
